The new technology 4 stroke gasoline engines we are installing today are much cleaner then their predecessors with out a doubt. Although every time they are started and run they are having an impact on our waters even reduced as it may be. This low speed alternative power source is an even more socially responsible choice.
When I approached one of my manufacturers at the end of last summer, they were a bit reluctant to take on the design and production of a Hybrid Boat, So I did it myself.
We currently have an Avalon 2023 Windjammer Hybrid Pontoon Boat at our facility in Manchester. As soon as the ice goes out we will be offering demo rides to anyone who would like to experience this drive system for themselves. A standard installation includes the drive system itself. The Joy Stick control, batteries, a standard charger, and a secondary solar panel trickle charger, electrical harness's, on all pontoon boats the mounting brackets, labor and all basic rigging supplies. Depending upon the application the cost ranges from $3700.00 - $4000.00.
I don't expect it is going to be for everyone.
But I do expect that many boaters will see the value the Lenco Joy Ride system has to offer.
